Some Organizations are Focusing on Sustainability, and Customer Advisory Boards Can Help

How organizations can help build a sustainable environment, and on a global scale, has been front and center over the last year. We see it on the news, when reading online content, and we hear it from clients in our work at Farland Group — sustainability has increasingly become a topic of interest for many on our customer advisory boards.

Companies are looking to tackle the movement to ‘green’ in various ways. AB InBev developed a startup think-tank for those who want to solve the problems that global sustainability presents. And Nike’s ‘waste-reduction trick’ aims to use as much fabric as possible in their shoe design process, versus leaving the scraps on the floor.

One way to bring together views on the ever-changing environment is with either a virtual or in-person customer advisory board or council meeting. Customer advisory boards bring executive leadership and peer groups together to discuss a range of topics on a given meeting agenda, sustainability being one of them.

What are you and your organization focused on in 2020? Whether your business is concentrating on sustainability or not, if you’re curious as to whether your clients or peers are thinking about it, consider adding it to your next customer advisory board meeting agenda.
